Urban Dictionary: Arizona Fact #1 "You no longer associate bridges or rivers with water."
After the third week of living here in this warm sunny state I learned how much I loved water. Yes, rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, and bottled water. It was something I under appreciated back in Washington. It was also something I under appreciated in my scenic drives around my home town. Camelback road is driven on by most Arizonians, and as most of the locals know the bridges are commonly associated with deep dry ravines and "washes." There's also the occasionally misleading overpass that tricks me into expecting a river rushing underneath, and discovers only a river of cars.
One day, I was driving down Camelback with my roommates and to my excitement I caught a glimpse of a small river --Now keep in mind I had been away away from home for a while-- I slipped for a brief moment lost my composure and screamed "water!" I had no idea what came over me and the realization of my deprivation from water finally surfaced.
So to all you Washingtonians out there, tip number one, mentally prepare yourself for the transition of no longer associating bridges or rivers with water.
